Oh, Sweet Summertime on the Farm
Oh, sweet summertime! There’s just something special about this season. Long days, green pastures for now, and life happening all around the farm make it one of our favorite times of the year. Of course, if we could enjoy all of that without the summer heat, it would be just about perfect!
Life has been incredibly busy around here, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Emma currently has four animals in her show barn, and this year is especially exciting because she's starting a brand-new FFA project showing her very first steer! She absolutely adores him, and it's been so much fun watching the bond they've already built. Along with her steer, she also has three Charolais cattle in the barn, including one energetic six-month-old.
Hay season is in full swing, which means plenty of long days moving hay and making the most of the beautiful weather. Travis has been working hard getting it all moved in this heat. We've been blessed with a great hay crop so far, and we're incredibly thankful. Like every farmer, though, we're keeping a close eye on the forecast and hoping for some much-needed rain to keep our pastures healthy and growing.
Another exciting chapter for our farm is our club calf breeding program. Over the past year, we've started breeding a few club calf bulls, and we're looking forward to seeing what new calves will be hitting the ground. There's always a sense of anticipation during calving season, and we can't wait to watch this next generation grow.
Summer may be busy, hot, and sometimes exhausting, but it's also full of blessings, hard work, and memories being made. We wouldn't trade this farm life for anything, and we're excited to see what the rest of the season has in store.
